Microsoft is releasing a new cybersecurity app called Defender, for Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. While Microsoft has used the Defender nickname for its antivirus protection for ages, this new cross-platform software is designed to be a simplified platform that will be available for Microsoft 365
personal and Family subscribers, with features varying depending on the platform.
There will be no antivirus protection on iOS or iPad OS. The app instead will provide web phishing protection alongside a dashboard that includes security alerts for other devices.
Defender for Android will include antivirus protection and the ability to scan for malicious apps.
