Qtractor
Qtractor is a free and open-source audio editor/digital audio workstation. It is fast, lightweight, and small enough to even fit on old floppy disks. This application works only on the Linux OS though. It is also famous for its multi-track audio playing capability along with MIDI recording and editing. The source code of this software is written in C++ and uses a common QT toolkit for enhancing its graphical user interface, making it so user-friendly in nature. So users can access all options within the working window. This software depends on Advanced Linux Sound Architecture (ALSA) and Jack Audio Connection Kit (JACK).
Why you must get it:
Qtractor provides an environment with multi-track clip-oriented composing techniques which are used widely in modern music-making. The aim of this software is to be intuitive and easy-to-use for everyone, from beginners to professionals. Yet it is powerful enough to work for an enthusiast.
